Wilo Group won the MIMA 2024 Smart Manufacturing Award
The Wilo Group has received the prestigious Microsoft Intelligent Manufacturing Award (MIMA).
A jury of experts from industry and science recognized the multinational technology group's adaptive worker assistance system deployed at the Wilopark Smart Factory in Dortmund, awarding MIMA the award in the "Value added" category, jointly presented by Microsoft Germany and Roland Berger Management Consultants. The adaptive worker assistance system provides production employees with detailed step-by-step instructions via a screen to complete the assembly of approximately 12,000 different products. The system can be adapted to the individual skills and experience level of each production employee, and as their expertise and skills grow, the system's instructions will be displayed in a more concise and compact form. At the same time, the integration of augmented reality technology has greatly simplified the operation and usability of the system.
Compared with traditional non-adaptive systems, adaptive worker assistance systems have significant advantages. It dramatically reduces on-board time for operational employees, allows flexibility to deploy employees in different workplaces, and increases quality levels and productivity.
The Microsoft Smart Manufacturing Awards recognize companies that use technology to transform production processes. The MIMA Award is the second prestigious industry award recently won by Wilo Group. Just last year, the Wilopark Smart Factory was named "Factory of the Year 2022" in the "Transformation Excellence: Digital" category.
The adaptive worker assistance system will also soon be deployed at other Wilo Group production sites.
