Tech_Note: Anti-jamming measures of servo drive system


It is a common problem in the debugging of automation equipment that the control command of servo driver is interfered or the servo driver interferes with other equipment. The following measures can effectively avoid signal interference and provide the reliability of the control system.

First, choose the appropriate type of control instruction

The positioning instructions sent by the upper control system to the servo driver are usually divided into two types: communication instructions and pulse instructions. Pulse instructions are divided into three types according to the output mode: differential, single-ended NPN and single-ended PNP. They are briefly described as follows:

1. Communication instructions

With the best anti-interference ability, it is recommended that the servo drive should be controlled by communication command. Common communication interfaces are RS232 ASCII serial port, CANopen, EtherCAT, ProfiNet and so on.

Both servo drives can be used with KECM or KSS series servo motors from Kingsley Technology.

2. Differential output pulse signal

Differential signal also has strong anti-interference ability. Most motion control cards can provide a differential output pulse signal.

3. Single-end NPN pulse signal

Most brands of PLC (such as Delta, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, etc.) pulse direction signals are single-ended NPN output, in order to improve anti-interference ability, it is recommended to pull-up resistance in parallel with the positive end of the 24V power supply. The following figure shows the wiring diagram of single-ended pulse signal parallel pull-up resistance when using GaOCon CDHD series servo driver.

4. Single-end NPN pulse direction signal

The pulse direction signal of some brands of PLCS (such as Siemens) is a single-ended PNP output. The single-ended PNP output pulse direction signal is susceptible to interference and is not recommended.

If the upper control unit uses Siemens PLC, it is not recommended to use single-ended PNP output pulse direction control signal, it is recommended to use ProfiNet communication instructions, ABB MicroFlex e180/e190 series servo drivers support ProfiNet communication interface.

Second, single-end brake power supply

The servo motor brake is powered by a separate 24V power supply. It can effectively prevent the motor brake from interfering with the command signal.

The I/O interface circuit of the servo driver uses a separate power supply, and the servo brake, solenoid valve, relay, etc., uses another power supply. The typical wiring diagram is as follows:

Third, avoid the servo drive to the peripheral equipment interference

The servo drive output is not a standard sine wave, generally SPWM wave, is a waveform between sine wave and square wave, which causes the servo drive to interfere with some sensitive (data acquisition) equipment. The following measures can effectively avoid the type interference of the servo drive to the peripheral equipment.

1. Add isolation transformer to main power supply line of servo driver.

2. Install an output reactor on the power cable of the driver and motor, and the reactor current (power) is ≥1.5* rated current (power) of the servo motor.

3. Add manganese zinc ferrite magnetic ring on the servo motor power cable.

4. The PE end of the servo driver is grounded reliably.
