The brake of the stepper motor or servo motor is a safety device, the main function is to provide enough static locking torque for the drive motor shaft in the vertical motion mechanism, to prevent the motor shaft without brake from being in a non-locked free state when the system unexpectedly fails, and the load falls due to gravity. For stepper or servo motors with brakes, the brake must be released when working (generally achieved by connecting 24V power to the brake coil).
